Common questions

Do I really never have to count calories?

Correct. MintChip never asks for a calorie number, a macro split, or a portion weight. It asks what you ate in plain language and what kind of thing it was. There is no hidden calorie model behind the coins.

How is my Treat Balance decided?

From the short setup questionnaire — your current habits around sugary drinks, snacking and eating out, plus the pace you pick. It is deliberately not calculated from your weight or your body measurements.

What happens if I miss a few days?

Nothing bad. You pick up where you left off. MintChip has no "catch up" penalty and does not mark days as missed. If you are away or unwell, turning on Vacation or Sick Mode in Settings pauses your streaks and quests rather than breaking them.

Do I have to track my weight?

No. Weight tracking and progress photos are both entirely optional and can be turned on or off at any time in Settings. The app is fully usable without ever entering a weight.

Can I use MintChip without an internet connection?

Parts of it. Logging needs a connection because your coins are calculated on our servers, which is what stops the numbers from being tampered with.

How do I export my data?

Settings → Data & Privacy → Export my data. You get a file containing your account's data.

How do I delete my account?

Settings → Data & Privacy → Delete my account. This removes your progress photos and then deletes your account and the records attached to it. It cannot be undone.

If you signed up with Sign in with Apple, deleting your MintChip account does not by itself withdraw the Apple permission. Remove it on your device under Settings → your name → Sign in with Apple.

How do I turn analytics off?

Settings → Data & Privacy → Analytics consent. The change takes effect immediately and no feature stops working.
